Explore what's in front of you
Point your phone at the skyline and we'll mark where known peaks should be, from your position and the direction your camera faces.
- Camera. Shown only on your screen. Identify peaks checks a frame visually on your phone; nothing is uploaded.
- Motion and compass. Tells us which way the camera points. Your browser may ask separately.
- Location. Needed to work out bearings to each peak. Kept on your device; you can pick a viewpoint instead.
Labels are estimates from geometry, not visual detection. A peak can be in that direction and still be hidden by cloud or a ridge. The live view works in and around Nepal, wherever the Himalaya could be in view. Elsewhere, you can pick a Nepal viewpoint to explore.
